The Weekend Brings…

  • work at the wonderful Howard Johnson
  • The decision on what topic to do my methods paper on that I will hopefully be able to carry over to my Senior Research Project next semester!  I have a few thoughts in my mind, but that’s as far as I’ve gotten. But by Monday I must have my idea and justification of why I want to do this research. I’ll get it eventually.
  • Apple picking with Jake!
  • Fall Life group kick-off at the Hunts house
  • Church and helping Hannah with Sunday School. Just a note: last week was my first week and those kids are super cute, now we only had three kids, so it was super easy as well which may have made them even cuter. 🙂 Hopefully we have more kids this week though.
  • GRE studying for Jacob. He takes the exam on Wednesday morning at 8:00 am.

Have a great weekend y’all!

Food on my mind…

IF you know me the title of this post may seem odd. I tend to be the type of person who just eats food to survive. I don’t really take joy in eating it…it’s just food.

Recently though, I have found myself in my free time or times of procrastination scanning recipe blogs and sites. There are so many options of things to make, it’s kind of exciting. One thing that I have been looking for in particular are recipes that are easy, yet somewhat healthy, require little ingredients or common ingredients,  that aren’t expensive and don’t take a lot of time to prepare. I know that’s a lot of requirements.

I am not the most skilled cook, but thankfully I have a husband who has been so far willing to eat anything as long as it doesn’t have onions. Since school started I make a menu for each week and hang it on the fridge, so I have a plan for each day. It has really helped me be less stressed in this area because I know what I’m making each night and i know we will have the ingredients on hand. One little tradition we have started is to have one breakfast dinner a week, Jake and I both like breakfast, so we both liked the idea.

There’s only two of us, and we still make so many dirty dishes. Thankfully though Jake helps me with the dishes each night, so we have a good system down.

What’s your (you few readers that i have) opinion on coupons? Do you think you save money  by using them? or just make you think you’re getting a deal? Is it worth going around to several stores to hit the sales on groceries?

What are your tricks to making dinner or planning for it on a budget?

I need to get back to my homework, but sometime I’ll share some of my newly discovered sites that I like.

Yes, we’re still alive.I just wanted to write a quick note to update.

Jake and I are now married as most of you readers know. Life is busy, but good.

The fall semester started yesterday and I start my internship tomorrow.

Something I’ve been pondering and trying to work through is the balance of school and home. Before I was married, honestly my priority was school and that is what I primarily focused on, but now throw in dinner planning, laundry, cleaning, spending time with my husband, work, exercise and an internship on top of school work (which doesn’t come easy to me unlike my husband). I’m not quite sure what the balance should be and I am still working through it. It’s been interesting because in my CST 451 class we’ve been talking about our roles and priorities, and mine have changed quite a bit just in the last couple of weeks. I’m enjoying planning meals and am learning to like making them as well. 🙂 I’m super thankful for our washer and dryer in our apartment.

Well, I have an assignment I must finish and turn in.
